Accessory designer Neha Agarwal’s bags spell opulence

If you are looking for accessories that are eclectic and sophisticated, accessory designer, Neha Agarwal has a few tricks up her sleeve. Her collection inspires, excites and goes beyond the ordinary. DNA chats with the designer about her extravagant bags and opulent jewellery…COACH MADISON

Why did you decide to get into designing?
I was always drawn towards accessories. My look was always about the accessories rather than the clothes and I always believed in the accessory factor which could make a simple cotton shirt look fab. It was the jewels and the bags that always drew my attention and since I was a compulsive shopper, buying almost five accessories a day, I thought about starting my own line.

You’re family has a very established real estate business — how did your family react to your decision?
My parents have always been very supportive because they always knew about flair for creating beautiful things. They were happy to learn that I wanted to now turn my passion into a business.

What is the hardest part of your business?
The hard part about converting my passion into a business is taking care of the accounts. I am a creative person, so numbers always confuse me.

How do you get inspiration for your label?
The collection has been inspired by the exotic islands of Greece, the relaxed beaches of St Tropez with the classy feel of a boudoir where one can have the most beautiful experience which I amalgamated to create my collection Luxe Lover.

What do you think is the biggest fashion mistake anyone can make?
One big fashion faux pas is when one looks like a Christmas tree, trying to wear almost everything in their closet. It is great to wear one or two impact accessories.

How would you define your stylish pieces?
Mine is a royal, dreamy and luxurious line of fashionable accessories. The accessories are extravagant and opulent; the designs are an indulgent mix of textured metal pieces.
